(BCN) -- The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area for Monday calls for sunny skies across the region, with patchy fog in some areas. Daytime highs will be mostly in the low to high 60s on the coast, mid 60s around the bay, and mid 60s to low 70s inland.
Overnight lows will be in the high 40s.
Forecasters say cooler temps, gusty onshore winds and a risk of minor coastal flooding are expected across the Bay Area on Monday.
Coastal flood advisory issued for Bay Shore through Thursday
Skies are mostly clear early morning, with patches of low clouds forming along the western San Mateo Peninsula, the Berkeley-San Leandro Hills and Chittenden Pass between Watsonville and Hollister. The clouds are expected to clear through the morning and afternoon, leaving generally clear skies into the evening.
Onshore winds are expected to strengthen Monday afternoon and evening, with gusts reaching 25 mph along the coast, through favored gaps and passes, and on ridgelines. Gusty conditions could continue overnight, forecasters say.
The system is bringing wet weather to the Pacific Northwest and the North Coast, but cooler temps are expected to be its main effect on the Bay Area, the weather service says.
Minor coastal flooding is also possible around high tide along the shores of San Pablo Bay, San Francisco Bay and Monterey Bay, as well as along the Pacific coast. At the San Francisco tidal gauge, high tide is forecast to reach 7.4 feet above mean lower low water at 11:39 a.m. Monday, about 1.6 feet above normal. The NWS says this includes about 1 foot of additional water from a surge effect partly attributed to El Niño.
